That's Sid. Finding inspiration all around! "I could have been a lawyer, bubz", he said after he subjected me to a charged-up rendition of Jack Nicholson in "A Few Good Men". I was bellowed at when I asked him the truth about if he had eaten up Rishan's (my nephew's) M&M's from the fridge - "You want the truth...you can'ttt handle the truth"! Which was then meekly followed by "He won't notice, he has so many!"
On most days he's a professional golfer in the making, the air thick with exclamations of "I was this close to getting a birdie" or "I was really blasting my driver today" or "Jaipreet lost to me again in the first nine itself"! Sometimes he thinks he's on Masterchef, inspired to make me dinner, setting the scene with a glass of wine which he stylishly sips while cooking, sloshing some into the saucepan, whisking some herbs in, chopping onions deftly (always fold your fingers in slightly, that's what we real chefs do!) all the while singing along to the music he's put on to accompany the cooking. "Bubz, I will open my own restaurant some day", he beams, waving to me with a saucy spatula from the kitchen. At other times, he'll drag me to the computer, showing me a picture of a sunny villa in Goa that he thinks we can get a really good deal on. "We'll run our own villa as a guesthouse! We'll retire to Goa, renovate this Portuguese villa and run it as a charming little inn. You write, I'll take photographs...it will be perfect" (I have to admit, that's one dream I'm on board with!).
Sid reminds me of when you were asked as a kid, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" One day you're an astronaut, the next day you're a doctor or a scuba diver. You tend to curb that dreaming as you grow up, but fortunately some people like Sid, still remind us why it's so much fun to do just that...dream. He's getting to do what he loves doing and of course making tons of other plans along the way, and there's not a day that I'm not entertained and I will reluctantly admit that I'm impressed with the sudden words of wisdom he throws at me at the most unexpected times. Tomorrow marks three years of being "legally" wed to him and I hope that the years to come will be as interesting as they have been. Watching Sid jump around while watching Glee and shrieking "Dream On" along with Neil Patrick Harris and Matthew Morrison, I think - how apt!
Happy anniversary baby...I love this song and always think of you when I hear it. Taylor Hicks' version is better but I heard Sam Cooke's version first so it's the original for me...you thrill me, honest you do...
